Catch Up

So I know I haven't updated in a few days so I'll catch everyone up in this post. On Monday we had orientation for the company. That went pretty well, nothing to write home about. Tuesday went to work and did a little bit of this and that. Wednesday night we had our employee banquet:) Free food! Scallops, steak, popovers, mac and cheese and veggies and homemade icecream which is made by by roommate who uses special recipe and process:) this makes the ice cream served here so AWESOME!!!!! People at our table were pretty interesting, one guy hates squirrels. Afterwards, Cathy and Eric , managers at AO led a full moon hike. Patrick, Nikki, and I were all gung ho and thought lots of people were going...turns out it was just us and Champ. I guess I should take a sec to talk about the friends I'm making here. Patrick and NIkki are sooo nice. They are a youngmarried couple from Texas. Nikki comes from a super small town in Texas so she totally understands what its like being from a small town. She also got her name from a John Cusack movie. Patrick her husband is the resident ice cream and gelato maker. The gelato he makes is awesome:) He likes Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, Willow and Legend-enough said. Champ is from Michigan and his real name is Champion, named after a baseball player. He played ball in college. Interesting side note-he says EH just like the Canadians.
Soooo back to my story, so we went for the full moon hike around Jordan Pond and up to south bubble and balance rock. You should look it up on internet and you can see our destination. anyway the hike was wow!! At night on all of those rocks. It was scary and challenging and pretty great all at the same time. HIking down the trail from SOuth Bubble was the scariest because the path we took was pretty vertical and the rocks didnt make for easy hiking in the dark. ok so thursday was a work day-nothing much to write about. Friday, my day off!! Woke up early and met my coworkers at Two Cats (local b&B) for breakfast. Company gives each store money for a meal once a month. it was soooooooo good. Then it was off to BAN-GOR. I stress this for my friends, those mentioned above, give me crap for pronouncing it Ban-ger.Its ok though becasue really coming from 2 texans and one almost canadian that says EH , Ill keep saying "banger" . Anyway, got some sunglasses that Champ deemed too big, and Legend which we all watched later on with friends Heidi and Ashley. Came back from Bangor just in time to meet casey, Nikki, and Ashley for walk over to Bar Island. When the tide is low you can walk over to Bar Island and hike up to the summit. The Lupines are in early bloom so we decided to take a hike. When we came back we had ice cream and invited everyone to come eat whoopies, drink sweet tea and watch legend. Which we did :) Today has been my second day off and very laid back. I slept late -until 8! Cleaned my room, did laundry, went to Ellsworth and picked up some pics and some material to make a curtain. I watched my netflix -Glee disc 3and have been catching up my blog. I want so badly to go outside for a walk but the tourists are out in droves and I'm sure the shore path is totally crowded:( Mayb eill take a walk on west instead. Anyway call me, messgae me, comment or just read the blog. Ilove you !!!!
love, l

Yesterday i spent all day in the kitchen making whoopie pies. I ended up making a lot!!!! You can only make small batches at a time so it took me from 9-4. I made pumpkin with cream cheese and chocolate chip-wonderful, chocolate chip peanut butter rolled in reeces cups and blueberry lemon which were also yummmmmm. Today Im making red velvet. We also have an employee dinner tonight followed by a full moon hike around Jordan Pond. Sun has started coming up even earlier now- 4:20ish. This week on my day off I'm getting a curtain!!!!

today's sunset-wish i would have had my real camera

When I get homesick

I realize that I can just look past the water to the mountains on the other side of the bay. The remind me of the north georgia mountains:) It's like I'm kinda at home. Today we had orientation0-boring, but atleast we got paid to sit and be bored.

It was actually really hot today. It felt like Georgia weather. The air smells really good again tonight-much like every night. I think at some point ill have to sample the restaurant that is 2 doors down. One of my roommates had a pulled pork hamburger yesterday with bacon and cheese....it sounds amazing. I'll definately have to try it sometime. I think my fave new things from here is the blueberry lemonade and lobster roll.and the pumpkin whoopie pie :)

Early Day

Ok. So I know I have mentioned that the sun comes up way early here, like 5ish and its FULL SUN, so it really throws me off. I thought I'd be adjusted by now, but nope. I woke up at 6 this morning looked at my watch thinking"ohits prob 9 because the sun is really out" NOT EVEN. So i just laid in the bed waiting to fall back asleep. That didnt happen so now im taking advantage of the fact that no one else is up and the internet always works best this time in the morning. Im about to go take a walk on the Shore Path.

Pic from Hike

Cold Foggy Day

I knew the sunny weather couldnt last for long :( I was lucky, on my two days off i had weather in the 70s and I went to the beach on both days. Last evenin gwent hiking with Nikki and Ashley on Great Head Trail. Hiking here is not like hiking in Georgia. There were parts of the trail where we had to climb rocks! Well i just had to get over my fear of heights, and falling, and sharp things because it was pretty much climb or be stuck on the trail and be airlifted out:) Today was a cold and foggy day and im glad i had to work because it wouldnt have been the best day off. i tried the new coffee granitas at the shop, man are those good. I also tried a sample of one our 26 fudges-chocolate blueberry. Ehh ok not my fave though. Apparently Maine is famous for its wild blueberries, i had no idea. If you had no idea also, come to Maine, go in a store, believe me by the time you leave you'll know everything Maine is famous for, blueberries, light houses, balsam fir ( smells GREAT!!!) To the few people who read this blog, Christmas SPOILER ALERT****you will more than likely be recieving Maine themed presents for the upcoming holiday season. I get 40% off throught the company, I'd be stupid not to use that discount:) So if you like Maine, you are in luck, if you dont well, you will after you recieve the fabulous gift i honor you with :) well i think im about to go watch Bones Season 2 and eat some spaghetti:) I would say yummm but the spaghetti is made with wheat pasta and turkey. Hey i got to do what I can to be healthy :)

Just ate crab roll, shrimp chowder and blueberry lemonade at Seawall Drive Inn. Now at Seawall and found my first seaglass!
At sand beach. Beautiful day. Temp inching its way into the 70s:)

Exploring

I think I am going to go exploring today. I'll start with my usual morning walk by the shore path and then hop in the car and drive to Sand Beach. I'd like everyone to know that just because this is the beach the water isnt bearable. Casey, a girl I work with said "you can go in the water there if you want to go polar bearing". I read some info on the beach and basically the arctic water pretty much keeps it cold. Makes me miss the Gulf:( Woke up at 5 this morning and just laid in bed. One of the many downfalls of being this far north, sun comes up sooooo early, like not just teeny sunrise but full blown sun very early, plus side no one in the apts are up so im able to pull up instant watch on netflix :)

Walk on the Shore Path

About to take a walk on the shore path in town. It's so beautiful. There are lots of rocks and driftwood and apparently sea glass, which i havent found yet. One of the pieces of driftwood looks like a huge dinosaur vertebrae. My goal for the summer is to find sea glass. This is pretty but i think parts of Georgia can definately compete:)

Made it to Maine!
Note to self-find out what Ninety-nine is. Pretty sure some type of restaurant.
Just an observation-people in Massachusetts love Dunkin Donuts. One on almost every single exit.
Greenwich,CT has the most diverse McDonalds I've ever been in. only other place I've been where I've heard that many languages at the same time Disney World.
Can barely see the NYC skyline. The fog is awful!
Today's journey will start on the New Jersey turnpike
